I'm not a really great reviewer but here's my best attempt at it. My normal scoring for such things is based around a five star system. There may be spoilers. You have been warned.
This movie hits several great points. It feels like a true and proper Western. The cast is amazing in their roles giving an amazing performances. It also breaks up a lot of the seriousness with humor in several spots.
The movie does not suffer a slightly common occurrence with movies that are either remakes or based on books and that is the story being altered so that the whole main cast survive in the end. No in this movie as with both the original and the Japanese movie it was based on in the end only three of the Magnificent 7 live. Of the four who die I have to say Chris Pratt's character goes out like a boss and with a real bang (both figuretively and really). Each of the seven are fleshed out real well and are really likeable.
My only real complaint was the Comanche fight during the big battle was way too short. I had seen that this fight would happen after I saw that Bogue our main bad of the story had his own personal Comanche assassin Denali and that the 7 had the Comanche Red Harvest. Both came off as highly skilled so I expected an epic fight between then but instead it was a fight that if you had blinked you'd have missed it as Red Harvest beat Denali with no effort at all.
I give the Magnificent 7 a 7 out of 5.
